LSU won its eighth NCAA baseball championship Sunday with a 5-3 win over Coastal Carolina in Game 2 of the 2025 College World Series in Omaha. The victory in combination with the Tigers’ 1-0 shutout of the Chanticleers 1-0 in Friday’s opener of the best-of-three finals, secured the SEC’s fifth straight title.
LSU broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth with Chris Stanfield’s two-run single and Derek Curiel’s two-RBI single, chasing Coastal’s starter Jacob Morrison (12-0, 2.08 ERA) after 3 2/3 innings.
The Tigers’ Anthony Eyanson (11-2, 2.92 ERA) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and striking out nine. Chase Shores closed with 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Curiel and Stanfield each had two RBIs for LSU.
Dean Mihos and Wells Sykes led the Chanticlerrs with a homer and two RBIs, respectively.
