The 2025 College World Series final pits No. 13 Coastal Carolina against No. 6 LSU in a best-of-three showdown at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha starting Saturday. This matchup is a clash of momentum and pedigree, with Coastal Carolina riding a 26-game win streak, the longest entering a CWS final since the best-of-three format began in 2003, while LSU aims for its eighth national title.

Both teams have been dominant in Omaha, going undefeated in their brackets with Coastal outscoring opponents 24-9 and LSU staging dramatic comebacks, including a walk-off 6-5 win over Arkansas.

The Chanticleers seek to halt the SEC’s run of six straight CWS titles, while the Tigers look to cement their legacy as a college baseball powerhouse.

Under first-year head coach Kevin Schnall, Coastal has been a juggernaut since April 22, boasting a nation-leading 56 wins and a potent offense led by Colby Thorndyke, who set a program record with four RBIs in an 11-3 rout of Louisville. The team’s pitching staff, anchored by senior Riley Eikhoff (2.98 ERA), has been equally impressive, with a 3.22 team ERA and a knack for shutting down elite lineups.

LSU counters with a balanced attack, featuring sophomore pitcher Kade Anderson (11-1, 3.44 ERA), who threw seven strong innings against Arkansas, and a lineup driven by Jared Jones, whose walk-off single against the Razorbacks capped a ninth-inning rally.

The Tigers’ .298 batting average and 11.2 strikeouts per game from their pitchers give them an edge in firepower, but the Chanticleers’ speed (1.6 stolen bases per game) and discipline could exploit any LSU miscues.

The series carries intriguing storylines, including Coastal Carolina’s historical ties to LSU and current Tigers coach Jay Johnson. In 2016, the Chanticleers upset LSU at Alex Box Stadium en route to their lone national title and later defeated Johnson’s Arizona squad in the CWS final.

Now, Johnson seeks redemption against a Coastal squad that thrives on defying expectations.

Betting odds currently favor LSU (-190) over Coastal (+155), reflecting the Tigers’ experience and depth, but the Chanticleers’ relentless streak and defensive prowess, highlighted by catcher Caden Bodine’s 2025 Rawlings Gold Glove, make them a dangerous underdog.

With both teams rested and their top arms ready, this final poised to deliver a classic, with Coastal’s momentum clashing against LSU’s championship DNA in what could be a three-game thriller.
