GREENVILLE — Dixon Williams and East Carolina showed a national audience on ESPNU their power and resiliency in evening their American Athletic Conference series with Tulane on Saturday at Clark-LeClair Stadium with a 15-5 win in eight innings.

Williams had two of four home runs for the Pirates.

The Green Wave had taken a 20-0 lead in Friday’s series opener and prevailed, 20-5. ECU faced a 5-3 deficit in game two before the Pirates erupted for six runs in the fourth and four more to close the contest in the eighth.

ECU (25-18, 10-7 AAC) hosts the deciding game with the Wave (25-18, 9-8 AAC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. (ESPN+).

Williams had a 3-run homer in the first for a 3-2 Pirates lead. He had another 3-run shot in the fourth. Williams had a 3-run homer on Friday as well. He went 3-for-5 with six RBIs on Saturday as ECU outhit Tulane, 16-5.

Ethan Norby (5-4) played a big role in limiting the Wave. He pitched the last six innings and scattered three hits without a run. He struck out eight with no walks.

Five Pirates had two hits including Jack Herring (two RBIs), Ryley Johnson (RBI), Austin Irby (RBI), Alex Bouche (RBI) and John Collins.

Davin Whitaker had a 3-run homer in the eighth and Irby had a walk-off blast to left.
