GREENVILLE — Florida Atlantic captured its American Athletic Conference series at East Carolina with a 14-1 win in seven innings on Saturday.

The Pirates (20-12, 6-2 AAC) look to avoid a 3-game sweep on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the series finale.

FAU (22-9, 4-4 AAC) scored four runs in the first inning with an RBI triple by Patrick Ward, a run-scoring double by Jake Duer and a 2-run homer by Dylan LaPointe. ECU starter Nick Moran (1-1) was charged with the loss.

Braxton Tramel had a solo homer for the Pirates in the second.

John Schroeder had a 3-run homer for the Owls in the third.

Jake Millan had a 3-run double in FAU’s 5-run fifth. Duer had a solo homer for the visitors in the sixth.

Tyler Murphy (3-2) pitched all seven innings for FAU. He allowed three hits and one run (earned) with two walks and two strikeouts.
