GREENVILLE — North Texas went on a 21-5 run in the second half to top East Carolina, 69-60, on Tuesday night.
The Pirates slipped to 9-9 overall and 1-4 in the American Athletic Conference despite 30 points from R.J. Felton, who made a heave from 60 feet as the game ended.
The Mean Green (12-4, 3-1 AAC) was led by 22 points from Atin Wright.
ECU had its largest lead at 33-27 with 13:11 to go. The last advantage for the hosts was at 50-49 with 7:55 remaining. A 3-pointer by Wright with 7:39 left put the Mean Green ahead to stay at 52-50 and launched a decisive 12-0 spree for the visitors.
North Texas had six days to prepare for the Pirates while ECU was coming off a 74-70 loss at Memphis on Saturday.
The Mean Green made 19 of 25 free throws for 76 percent while the Pirates were four for 10 at the line for 40 percent.
North Texas had a 29-21 rebounding advantage as Felton grabbed a team-high six for ECU.
Brenen Lorient added 18 points for the Mean Green.
C.J. Walker scored 12 points for the Pirates. Jordan Riley had six points. Cam Hayes and Yann Farell tallied five each.
ECU will seek to bounce back at Wichita State on Saturday at 7 p.m. (ESPN+). The Shockers improved to 11-6 overall and 1-3 in the league with a 68-59 home win over Charlotte on Tuesday night.
