GREENVILLE — C.J. Walker had 23 points and 10 rebounds for East Carolina on Tuesday night in a 75-64 win over Florida International in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum as the Pirates halted a 3-game losing streak.
ECU (8-4) got 16 points from Jordan Riley, 14 from Yann Farell and 12 from R.J. Felton. Cam Hayes added nine points and seven assists.
Riley made a turnaround jumper after an offensive rebound by Cyr Malonga to put the Pirates ahead to stay at 20-19 with 6:15 left in the first half. ECU led, 35-29, at intermission.
The Pirates had the biggest lead at 75-62 with 1:25 to go.
Walker hit eight of 14 field goal attempts, including one of two beyond the arc, and made all six of his free throws.
“It starts off with being aggressive around the basket,” Walker said on the ECU radio network. “I saw a lot of free throws going in. Easy buckets. Hustle plays. That’s just the normal for me.”
Jayden Brewer led FIU (4-7) with 20 points.
The Pirates host Gardner-Webb on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs fell to 4-8 with an 86-81 loss at Georgia Southern on Tuesday night.
