For the second time in two weeks East Carolina’s basketball slate has been interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Pirates’ game at Cincinnati, scheduled for Wednesday night, has been postponed due to a COVID-19 case and the implementation of contact tracing protocols in the Bearcats program.
The American Athletic Conference announced the postponement Tuesday afternoon. In its news release the conference indicated that rescheduling information is yet to be determined.
Previously, ECU’s scheduled Dec. 30 game at Wichita State was postponed. In that case the postponement was attributed to a cluster of positive COVID-19 tests in the Pirates program.
ECU is 7-3 overall, 1-3 in the AAC, heading into its next scheduled game, a home contest at noon on Saturday against Temple.
Cincinnati is also set to return to action on Saturday, hosting Tulane.
