GREENVILLE — Tulane trailed 5-0 after three innings Sunday, but came back to prevent a sweep in its American Athletic Conference series with East Carolina to take a 9-8 win.
The Green Wave took a 7-5 lead with five runs in the sixth and stayed on top the rest of the way.
The 11th-ranked Pirates slipped to 33-11 overall and 13-2 in the AAC.
Hudson Haskin led Tulane (27-16, 9-5 AAC) at the plate, going 5-for-5 with two doubles and a home run. He had an RBI double in the sixth and a 2-run homer in the seventh.
Alec Burleson had a 3-run homer in the eighth to close the scoring. He had a 2-run single in a 4-run third inning for the Pirates. Burleson went 2-for-5 with five RBIs and scored twice.
Bryant Packard was 3-for-5 and scored twice. Jake Washer, Thomas Francisco and Brady Lloyd had two hits each.
ECU loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but a double play gave Brendan Celluci (2-2) the win as Trent Johnson picked up his first save.
Evan Voliva (4-3) took the loss.
Each team had 14 hits and one error. The Pirates left 10 runners on base while Tulane stranded five.
Next action for ECU will be the start of an AAC series at Cincinnati on Friday at 6 p.m.
