COLLEGE PARK, MD — Jake Agnos, Zach Barnes and Evan Odum pitched East Carolina to a 9-0 win at Maryland on Friday night.

Jake Washer had a 3-run homer in a 5-run third for the No. 14 Pirates as they improved to 13-6. Spencer Brickhouse had a 2-run shot in the eighth.

Agnos, a sophomore left-hander, improved to 3-1 as he started and went seven innings. He allowed six hits and had seven strikeouts without a walk.

Barnes fanned a pair in the eighth and Odum whiffed two in the ninth.

Bryant Packard went 4-for-5 with two doubles in the leadoff spot for ECU and scored three runs. Turner Brown was 3-for-4 as the Pirates had a 13-6 lead in hits. Lane Hoover and Brickhouse had two hits each.

ECU had a double play on an errorless day.

The Terrapins of the Big Ten Conference fell to 10-6.

Game two of the 3-game nonconference series is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.
