GREENVILLE — Alexis Yetna scored 28 points and claimed 13 rebounds to lead South Florida to a 77-57 American Athletic Conference win at East Carolina on Saturday.
Dimitrije Spasojevic hit a jumper to give the Pirates a 41-40 lead with 17:10 remaining.
Yetna responded with 11 points in a decisive run that produced a 54-43 advantage for the Bulls.
Yetna connected on 11 of 13 field goal attempts.
Jayden Gardner had 15 points and 15 rebounds for ECU as the Pirates slipped to 8-11 overall and 1-6 in the AAC.
“That was a step back,” said ECU coach Joe Dooley. “We did not play tough.”
Justin Brown hit four of five 3-point attempts for the visitors, who were seven of 19 behind the arc, 36.8 percent. Brown had 14 points.
Laquincy Rideau had 10 points, 10 assists and four steals for USF (14-6, 4-4). Michael Durr added nine points and 10 rebounds in the win.
The Bulls had a 41-32 lead in rebounding. ECU committed 16 turnovers compared to six for USF.
Shawn Williams had 12 points for the Pirates and Spasojevic scored 10. Seth LeDay had eight points and five rebounds. Isaac Fleming had five assists.
ECU hosts Tulane (4-14, 0-6) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
