Bryant Packard homered to center on the first pitch of the game as No. 7 East Carolina took a 3-0 win at Elon on Wednesday night.
Jake Agnos (3-2), Davis Kirkpatrick, Ryan Ross and Alec Burleson (fourth save) combined for a two-hit shutout.
Packard went 3-for-5 with two runs. He doubled with two out in the seventh and stole third. He scored on a single by Spencer Brickhouse. Jake Washer followed with an RBI single to score Brady Lloyd, who had walked.
Washer finished 2-for-4. Andrew Henrickson also had a hit as the Pirates improved to 25-7.
Agnos started and went four innings. He allowed one hit, walked three and struck out six.
Kirkpatrick yielded one hit over two innings while walking one and striking out two.
Ross fanned five in two innings. Burleson struck out the side in the ninth as the Phoenix fell to 17-16.
ECU returns to American Athletic Conference action against South Florida with a home game Friday at 6:30 p.m.
