MOUNT PLEASANT, SC — Home runs from Spencer Brickhouse, Eric Tyler and T.J. Riles helped East Carolina to its ninth straight win as the Pirates topped host College of Charleston, 12-7, on Tuesday.

ECU overcame an early 4-1 deficit to improve to 9-3 going into the second of a two-game series with the Cougars at 2:30 p.m. today.

Tyler’s solo homer in the top of the second tied the score at 1 before the hosts scored three runs in the bottom of the frame.

ECU scored twice in the third to close the gap to 4-3. Riles led off with a single and Charlie Yorgen doubled. Turner Bown had a sacrifice fly and Yorgen scored on a single by Travis Watkins.

The Pirates went ahead 6-4 in the fourth after a leadoff walk to Brickhouse. Bryant Packard singled with one away and Brickhouse came home on a sacrifice fly by Kirk Morgan. Riles hit a two-run homer to right field to put ECU ahead to stay.

Watkins singled with one away in ECU’s three-run seventh. Luke Bolka reached on an error and Brickhouse singled to score Watkins. Bolka stole home and Tyler’s double down the right field line brought in Brickhouse.
