DALLAS — With former president George W. Bush on hand, Southern Methodist rolled to an 86-46 American Athletic Conference win over East Carolina on Wednesday night.
Shake Milton and Semi Ojeleye had 19 points each as the Mustangs improved to 19-4 overall and 9-1 in league play.
Sterling Brown had 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists for SMU. Ben Moore contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Kentrell Barkley led ECU (10-13, 2-8) with 12 points.
The Pirates held a brief 7-5 lead before a 19-2 run by the Mustangs.
SMU built a 49-20 margin by halftime.
Freshmen Deng Riak and Jeremy Sheppard scored nine points each for ECU.
Andre Washington and Barkley each had six rebounds for the Pirates, who trailed 40-31 on the boards.
Caleb White had five assists for ECU and Sheppard had four.
The Pirates were limited to 15 of 49 field goal shooting, 30.6 percent. The Mustangs were third in the NCAA in scoring defense coming into the game, allowing just 59.5 points per game.
ECU hosts Tulane (4-16, 1-9) on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Green Wave fell 79-71 at home to Temple on Tuesday night. The Pirates are 9-4 in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
