SAVANNAH, GA — East Carolina opened the second half on a 25-11 run and held off a late surge by Air Force for a 70-63 win at the Savannah Civic Center on Saturday.
The Pirates (5-2) led 33-31 at the half in taking their third win in four games in the inaugural Savannah Invitational.
B.J. Tyson scored a game-high 18 points to lead ECU. Tyson made seven of 14 field goal attempts.
Caleb White had 15 points and Kentrell Barkley scored nine. The Pirates got eight points from Andre Washington, seven from Jeremy Sheppard and six from Clarence Williams. Raquan Wilkins tallied five points.
Barkley and Washington each grabbed eight rebounds. Deng Riak snatched six caroms and Tyson had five.
Barkley and Washington each had three assists. Washington had two steals.
The Falcons got 13 points from Trevor Lyons, 12 from Zach Kocur and 10 from Ryan Manning.
ECU hosts Hampton in a battle of Pirates on Tuesday at 7 p.m. A 76-66 loss to Stony Brook on Saturday dropped Hampton to 1-5.
