GREENVILLE — B.J. Tyson and Caleb White each scored 13 points as East Carolina took a 61-51 nonconference win over North Carolina A&T at Williams Arena in Minges Coliseum on Monday night.

Jabari Craig had 13 rebounds, including eight at the offensive end, and blocked four shots as the Pirates (2-0) had a 45-30 advantage on the boards.,

Kentrell Barkley had eight points for ECU. Andre Washington contributed six rebounds. Deng Riak had five rebounds and blocked two shots.

The Pirates led 35-22 at the half.

Tyson had five assists. A jumper by Tyson put the Pirates ahead to stay at 8-6 with 16:07 left in the first half and started a 9-0 run.

ECU’s largest lead was 55-34 on a 3-pointer by White with 7:15 remaining in the game.

Sam Hunt scored a game-high 17 points for the Aggies (1-1) and also had five assists. Davaris McGowens had 10 rebounds for the visitors.

The Pirates got 20 points from reserves before a crowd of 4,177.

ECU plays at Charlotte on Thursday at 7 p.m. The 49ers (2-0) got 23 points from Hudson Price and 22 from Jon Davis in a 100-95 win at Elon on Monday night.
