Bonnie on The Next Level: Pirates in the Pros

I think the "next-level" series is a great idea as it gives homers a great way to follow the Pirates as they progress along in their careers. I say keep it!

This is NC State's National Championship. They lose this, and they are looking at a 5 win season at best.

Broughton on Insights from Brett: A Pirate finds peace in Charlottesville

Ruff is a great guy, but not head coaching material. His dismissal was justified.

Paul Eilers on Inside Game Day: Pirates follow up on grand entrance

East Carolina was impressive in the opener against WCU. I'm already looking forward to the game next weekend against NCSU. Go Pirates!

Gary Rosenbaum on View from the East: Pirates look inland to enhance domain

Thanks for this nice artcle, which brings out multiple positive points. We have an East Carolina medical clinic between Thomasville and Lexington, approximately 1 hour northeast of Charlotte. There is another in Sylva, which is just a few miles from Western Carolina University. A third is either in, or will be in, Mitchell County, which produced Ken Burnette ("Peach Bowl" linebacker). Please forgive me if these have already been mentioned.

LOL... Glad he's gone! Worst coach ever and now we know why Texas Tech didn't want him.

Danny Whitford on View from the East: Pirates attain ‘game ready’ fitness

Not to put the pressure on Nelson, but I think you make a good point, Jim. Coach Mo obviously saw something he liked a lot from the transfer. Happily, it seems to have worked out well for Benkert, too.

Jim Copeland on View from the East: Pirates attain ‘game ready’ fitness

With Benkert named the starter this week at UVA winning the job in camp over a returning senior starter, it speaks highly of Nelson who beat Benkert out during spring ball at ECU. I am expecting big thing from Nelson and our receiving group.

Nathan Weeks on View from the East: Pirates attain ‘game ready’ fitness

Good article. One mistake, however. The 1994 ECU - Duke game was in Durham, not Greenville. And it was Duke that won 13 - 10.

Daniel on Insights from Brett: A Pirate finds peace in Charlottesville

What a short-sighted decision to run this story one week before the season starts. Still not sure what the writer is trying to say? That a former coach has "found peace"? Perfect wound to reopen for our guys that are trying to get behind the new ball coach.

Ahoy, Doyle. SportByte has been a popular feature for many years and there are plans for it to return in coming days. We're trying to work out the best ways to present it in the new format and to also make the old SportByte archives accessible to readers. Thank you for your input.
