Al, I agree with you 100% - you obviously know more about what is going on than I do, but I know one thing - there are much better coaches and ADs out there. Time to right the ship and do it soon.

I do not expect that I will see the game on TV; I am tired of seeing a slaughter with ECU being the butchered animal. When can we expect to see a competitive team from ECU? Except for UCON, it is almost like seeing sheep being slaughtered. I have gotten so embarrised that I refuse to wear ECU hats or Polos.

Thanks for the honest assessment Brian. I sometimes get the feeling some in the local media tap-dance on how bad and embarrassing this team. staff, and administration appears to be.

Fulp and Williams are both seniors and both lack discipline. If they are not going to help us this year, then put in someone who can learn and help us next year. Fulp would never play for me again after TWO 15 yard penalties on the same drive. Play the youngsters and lets build something.

In my professional career I had to produce to keep my job. I could not afford to make any bad decisions and I worked under the assumption that a bad decision or poor performance was likely to cost me my job. Does the AD and football coach get a pass for bad performance. Come on folks - lets try to right the ship. There are plenty of good coaches and ADs at FCS programs that would love to be at ECU. Find them and bring them in.

Yeah, I was there too brother. No pressure on QB, no tackling, players that are so slow they can't keep up, no blocking, dropped passes, penalties........my God, does anyone know what is going on here? There is an unverified rumor that Rick Smith said he could see this train wreck coming early last year.....that what was being tried just was not going to work. Has anyone else heard this? If true, does anyone know what he meant, specifically?

I am really sorry that I bothered to renew my season tickets. In over 55 years as a ECU fan/supporter, I have never seen such a pathetic display. To those that make decisions, it's time some be made. It is a long drive from Holden Beach to Greenville, but it seems like an eternity on the way back after such lack of play on ECU's part. BRING BACK STEVE LOGAN!

Good column. I've never been more frustrated by our leadership. Cecil doesn't appear to care one bit about athletics and is quickly becoming as much a hated figure as Compher. His email was an utter embarrassment as the whole purpose of it was to deflect criticism. All pirate fans support our players. We do not, however, support incompetent leadership. The five year extension approved by the BOT and him may go down as the single dumbest event in our athletic history. Compher has ran our football program, and pretty much every other program, into the dirt with his decisions that had little to do with the program, and more to do with his self-fulfilling prophecy. He's also ran our budget into the ground, yet gets a 18% pay increase while having to cut our athletic budget by 10%. You can't even make this stuff up. We have a bunch of dumbasses in leadership roles making decisions that aren't supported by anything remotely near the majority. Sad times that will only get worse until changes are made.

I believe Brian Bailey hit the nail in this article. This is exactly what I have observed in all of the games that I have seen - and I've seen theme all. We have rarely had fantastic defenses, but when we have had good defense, we have won games. We have a winnable game this week - I hope lots of people show up and we get a win. GGOOO...PPIRATES!!!

It was an interesting Saturday game day to say the least. Realistically, I did not expect to see a win, but hoped to see some improvement/progress. I believe I did. We have an excellent quarterback and some good receivers. I keep praying that our defense can come together and play solid ball for four quarters. Biggest problem I saw Saturday, is that the offense (in spite of playing well) had to many three and out situations. As a result our defense I am sure was worn out by the end of the third quarter. Been same thing all four games. It was a shock - but not surprise, to see all of the empty seats in the stadium. We have a real shot of winning against Temple next Saturday - lets show up and support our team. GGOO...Pirates!!!

True. The secondary is banged up because they are the only ones on defense that are playing the game on Saturdays. It blows my mind how overweight, out of shape, and just plain scared our defensive line and linebackers are. Don't get me wrong. I have a lot of respect for these young men that are playing the game. I just hate to see the players have to go through a season like this because they were not prepared mentally or physically. It appears Coach Mo made a very strategic mistake at the onset with the hiring of the D Coach. As far as the conditioning of the players......well, it speaks for itself.
