Question..... What makes Coach Moe a better coach then Thompson to deserve another year? Interested in knowing.......

I can't understand how you guys can say " let's give coach Mo a 3rd year, how in the world did we beat state last year, what a great baseball coach hire, we did a great job of laying low while Ruffin gets hired which saved the Athletic Department $1.5 million" and then say we should fire the AD. May I ask WHO you have in mind to take the place of the ex NCAA Athletic Director of the Year while keeping in mind this new AD will have to make do with the lowest athletic budget in the AAC? Who? Please tell me why you feel this way and who do you think you could get to take the job to fill his shoes? Help me here.

I have thought all along that Coach Mo should have a third year. Compher should have been fired several weeks ago.

I think a coach should be given three years, except for John Thompson who was clearly incapable of being a head coach. It has been a long time since an ECU team has shown improvement late in the season. We usually start off with a bang and fizzle as the season progresses. I still don't know how we beat State last year. Coach Montgomery has been fortunate to serve under the best coach in America who can do more with less, Coach Cutcliffe. That will always be a requirement for any ECU football coach, given our conference, our location and our pitiful basketball program. Now if you want to fire the AD, I am all in.

Most fans believe Coach Mo should get another year. No surprise here.

Like last weeks game, I felt confident that we could win this game, but never thought that we would win so convincingly. It was so wonderful to see our Pirates shine like the Pirates of old. I took my older brother with me - it was his first game at ECU in years and a real treat for both of us. Felt good to be a Pirate for a change. GGGOOO...PPIRATES!!!

Brian, Many thanks for the journalism & Pirate perspective you provide to our great fans throughout a tough season. Just a heads up, today Nov 14, is the anniversary of the 1970 Marshall University plane crash. The two universities will be forever bound as a result of that tragedy. I was surprised at how stupid the players were to shop lift in China. If they were Chinese, they would be looking any many years in prison. I do not know if the problem is plain stupidy or a sense of entitlement. I say let them spend some time in jail - may make a better person of them.

You have a point, but the only way I can see changing my mind is if they just flat-out fail to compete the last two games. It seems that there are stats out there these days for everything. ...would love to know how many head coaches at the FCS or FBS level have been fired after two seasons (if any; next year would be a different kettle of fish, undoubtedly.)

They were his guys the moment he accepted the job. It's his job to "coach them up". I think he just has too little experience for such a high level position. He was unproven coming in and it is showing now.

How do you cut a guy after two seasons? How many of the starters are "his guys"?? I really don't know, and am open to being educated on it, but I'd think probably close to 0 on last year's edition, maybe a decent number on this year's, but how many of those are first year starters?? Even putting aside the controversial Ruff axing (which I was actually OK with), which, as someone else has already said, makes it almost politically impossible to cut Mo loose now, I'd still say you have to give him at least one more year. ...but man, he sure as heck be out there beating the bushes for defensive stoppers who can step right into it next year; I think the o is definitely headed the right way.
