George on Roused Pirates follow new script

Proud of the way the guys came back in the second half. Looked like old time.

Irish Spectre on Roused Pirates follow new script

"What makes the second half surge so promising is that all three sides of the ball played major roles in producing it." ...especially the OL, which until the 2nd half on Sat. night has been largely missing for 3 seasons now. ECU showed a lot of pride in the 2nd half, up and down the lineup, on both sides of the ball, with a lot of youth providing the juice. Maybe this Sat. vs. USF will finally be the day for ECU to be issuing the beating in a conference game; let's see.

Sportsdon on Herring follows tested path to opportunity

I agree. Ahlers appears to be very limited in his ability as a passer. I saw both Minshew and Herring play in a scrimmage that Monty in his first year, arranged in Charlotte to help recruitment. Minshew really stood out that day, with quick decisions and accuracy. Traits I’m just not seeing in Ahlers.

'83 Buc on Pirates not out of bowl picture yet

Brian, thanks for the ever optimistic outlook. True the team is looking better each week. Looking at the schedule pre-season I was looking at the South Florida game as my best chance to get to Greenville for a game so I plan to be in the stands hopefully pulling the Pirates through. Thanks for all your good work over the years.

J C on Herring follows tested path to opportunity

That's too bad because Reid Herring could be starting this week. Ahlers just produces bad game after bad game.

Dick Denton on Winning record on the line against Temple

Agree with you. I don't care how they look, I am more concerned with how they play.

Old School on Winning record on the line against Temple

I don't care if we wear fuschia and pinstripes. Just beat Temple! Go Pirates!

Irish Spectre on Young guns boost ECU’s rebuilding effort

The d the past two games is the most encouraging sign by far. Sacks and INTs! ...how 'bout that?! Temple has handed the Pirates their lunch since the birth of the AAC, and has two Power 5 wins to date, incl. vs. a then ranked opponent, so the Owls will be a very stern test on a national stage. The Pirates fans MUST be a 12th man for this one.

Aaaarrrgggghhhh!!! on ECU emerged from the pack to land McIver

This fans, is how you "build a roster". It's won and lost up front on both sides. A concept lost for years, but..... Houston knows how to do this. Love it!! Go Pirates!!

Jon in Harnett Co. on Pirates, Verity boot Tribe

Totally agree with Coach Houston on the critical importance of a balanced offense. BTW, that was my great Uncle Jim who made the infamous 12th-man-tackle against W&M's QB in the '77 Oyster Bowl. Never did a man bleed purple as deeply as Uncle Jim. A true legend.

Dee Tizzle on Game Day Weather

Akron has a take away pencil. That seems very strange to me. We get so few turnovers that I can't remember what our turnover item is. What is it?
