Little more than a week after his stunning ouster as East Carolina's head football coach, Ruffin McNeill has found his next calling.

McNeill, an ECU alum, headed a list of eight assistants added to the staff of newly-named Virginia head coach Bronco Mendenhall on Saturday.

McNeill will serve as assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach for the Cavaliers. He joins a staff that includes wide receivers coach Marques Hagans, a holdover from the staff of former UVa coach Mike London, and six assistants who served with Mendenhall at Brigham Young.

The assistants accompanying Mendenhall from Provo are Robert Anae (offensive coordinator/inside receivers coach), Mark Atuaia (running backs coach), Jason Beck (quarterbacks coach), Garett Tujague (offensive line coach), Nick Howell (secondary coach) and Kelly Poppinga (special teams/outside linebackers coach).

In addition to his coaching duties, it is likely that McNeill factors heavily into Mendenhall's blueprint for constructing a strong recruiting presence in the Carolinas, Tidewater Virginia and other regional prep football talent reservoirs that were heavily targeted by McNeill during his tenure at ECU.
