GREENVILLE — Tenth-ranked Southern Methodist remained unbeaten with a 79-55 win at East Carolina on Wednesday night.

Five players scored in double figures for the Mustangs with Ben Moore leading the way with 17 points.

SMU got 15 points from Jordan Tolbert, 13 from Shake Milton and 11 each from Sterling Brown and Markus Kennedy.

Point guard Nic Moore had 12 assists and no turnovers as the visitors improved to 16-0 overall and 5-0 in the American Athletic Conference.

The Mustangs will not compete in the AAC or NCAA tournaments because of NCAA sanctions relating to academic fraud.

SMU made 31 of 59 field goal attempts for 52.5 percent. The Mustangs were 11 of 22 beyond the arc for 50 percent.

The Mustangs held a 42-22 rebounding advantage as Kennedy grabbed 10.

"They're a terrific team," said Pirates coach Jeff Lebo.

Caleb White and B.J. Tyson scored 15 points each for ECU (8-9, 0-4). Lance Tejada had 10 points, three assists and no turnovers in 24 minutes.

The matchup drew 6,022 fans to Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

The Pirates have a 4:30 p.m. game Saturday at Central Florida. The Knights topped ECU 71-68 in Greenville on Jan. 2.
