GREENVILLE — East Carolina scored two
runs in the seventh inning for a 3-2 win over Monmouth on Sunday,
completing a three-game series sweep of the Hawks at Clark-LeClair
Stadium.
With the Pirates trailing 2-1, Reid
Love singled to lead off ECU's half of the seventh. An error by the
Monmouth first baseman on a sacrifice bunt by Parker Lamm put runners at
first and second. A sacrifice bunt by Eric Tyler moved both runners into
scoring position. Bryce Harman's sacrifice fly tied the score at 2 and
an RBI single up the middle by Travis Watkins scored Lamm with what
proved to be the winning run.
The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the
third after Luke Bolka and Hunter Allen started the frame with singles.
Love's sacrifice bunt preceded a sacrifice fly by Lamm.
The Hawks (0-9) scored unearned runs
in the fourth and fifth.
Watkins went 3-for-4 as ECU (8-5)
collected eight hits. Charlie Yorgen hit his fourth double of the
season.

scoreless innings of relief, picking up the win to even his record at
1-1. He had four strikeouts and no walks.
