Offensive Package, New Defensive Schemes Get Attention

From ECU Media Relations

GREENVILLE — The Pirate football team got back to business on Tuesday in the first day of spring practice at East Carolina University.

Head coach Steve Logan's squad took advantage of a sunny, mild afternoon and spent more than three hours on the practice field. The session was the first of 15 off-season practice days which will conclude in March.

"It was very enthusiastic with a lot of carry-over," Logan said. "We plugged in a good portion of the offense and some very new schemes on the defensive side of the ball. There's a lot of learning. We will use these first two days for a lot of teaching and, because of that, it was a very, very long practice."

The Pirates will take Wednesday off and return for another helmets-only practice on Thursday. The team will don full pads for Friday and Saturday's sessions.
