East Carolina Baseball
Notes (03/18/02)

first Conference USA games this past weekend, going 1-1-1 at Cincinnati.
After dropping the series opener, ECU rebounded with a 7-0 win on
Saturday. Senior RHP JASON MANDRYK improved to 4-0 with seven innings of

The third game between the
teams will go down as a 1-1 tie, as the Pirates' travel plans forced the
game to be called after 10 innings.
ECU freshman sensation DARRYL
LAWHORN, who plays first base and left field, smacked home runs in all
three games, including two in the series opener. He has tallied 11 home
runs in 17 games this season, which is already the third-highest total
by a freshman in ECU history (the school record is 13).
The Pirates are tied for the
league lead in batting .318 and have the lowest ERA in the conference at
3.28.
This week, ECU takes a short
road trip for a Wednesday game at Old Dominion and hosts a three-game
C-USA series against Texas Christian on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
