Conference USA will be looking for some new hoops superstars to emerge next season now that the league's best rookie and its most celebrated veteran are headed for the play-for-pay arena.

Memphis guard Dajuan Wagner, the conference's 2002 freshman of the year, and Cincinnati guard Steve Logan, its two-time player of the year, were selected in Wednesday nights NBA Draft.

Wagner was taken with the sixth overall selection by the Cleveland Cavaliers, marking the sixth time in the leagues seven-year history that at least one of its teams' players was picked among the first 10 selections.

Golden State took Logan with the first pick of the second round, the 29th overall choice. It marked the sixth consecutive season that at least one Cincinnati player has been selected in the first or second round of the NBA Draft. The only other program that has accomplished that feat is UCLA.

Wagner averaged 21.2 points last season, scoring a school record 762 points, and was named to the All-Conference USA first team. He also gained a spot on The Sporting News All-Freshman team.

Wagner was named the Most Valuable Player of the Owens Corning NIT, leading Memphis to its first post-season championship and C-USAs first national title.

Logan, was a consensus All-American after leading the Bearcats in scoring with a 22.0 average and became only the second player in C-USA history to repeat as the leagues player of the year. Logan also received the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award as the top player in the nation six feet tall or shorter.

In going to the Warriors, Logan will join three other former C-USA stars on the Golden State roster. Former Bearcat All-American Danny Fortson, 1998 National Freshman of the Year Larry Hughes of Saint Louis and ex-Memphis forward Cedric Henderson are all on the team's roster.
