East Carolina's basketball team may not
have produced a flashy won-loss record this season, but a pair of its
players finished among the national leaders in two statistical categories.
Forward Corey Rouse was No. 12 in the
nation in rebounding, hitting the backboards for 10.2 caroms per game. The
junior from Kinston finished the season as Conference USA's leading
rebounder.
Senior center Moussa Badiane was tied
for 15th in blocks, swatting away an average of 2.8 shots per contest. His
75 blocks on the season was enough to elevate him past former Cincinnati
star Kenyon Martin as C-USA's all-time leader in career blocks.

CBS draws best title game ratings in six years
NEW YORK — North Carolina's Monday
night win over Illinois in the NCAA championship game was the highest-rated
college basketball title game since 1999.
CBS's coverage of the Tar Heels' 75-70
win got an overnight rating of 16.0 with a 23 share. That's up 43 percent
from last year's 11.2 with a 17 share the network got for Connecticut's win
over Georgia Tech.
It's the best rating for an NCAA title
game since Connecticut's win over Duke in 1999 got a 16.9 with a 25 share.
For the tournament, the network
averaged an overnight rating of 7.3, up 14 percent from last year's 6.4 and
the highest since a 7.5 rating in 1994.
The rating is the percentage of all
homes with TVs, whether or not they are in use. The share is the percentage
of homes with sets in use.
Overnight ratings measure the 55
largest TV markets in the United States, covering nearly 70 percent of the
country.
