Frogs cop two player of week awards
After posting the highest yardage total in
Conference USA this season, UAB wide receiver Roddy White has been named
offensive player of the week.
Following Texas Christian's 13-10 win at South Florida that increased the
13th-ranked Horned Frogs win streak to eight games, defensive end Bo Schobel
and kicker Nick Browne have been named defensive and special teams players
of the week, respectively.
Here are recaps of the award winners' performances:
OFFENSE: Roddy White, UAB, WR
White caught four passes for a career-best
171 yards and a pair of touchdowns in UAB’s 31-14 win over Cincinnati. His
touchdown receptions were from 95 yards (the second-longest TD catch in
Conference USA history) and 56 yards, as he averaged 42.8 yards per
reception. White’s 171 receiving yards was the highest total in the league
this season.
DEFENSE: Bo Schobel, Texas Christian, DE
Schobel led a TCU defense that registered
10 sacks, notching 2 ½ on his own and accounting for 20 yards in losses in
the Horned Frogs 13-10 win at USF. His final sack came with less than four
minutes remaining and USF driving, forcing the Bulls into a 3rd and long
situation.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Nick Browne, Texas Christian, K
Browne earns player of the week honors for
the third time in the last four weeks and the seventh time in his career. He
accounted for seven of TCU’s 13 points at USF, hitting an extra point, a
37-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, and a 17-yard field
goal in the third quarter.
