Bonesville.net has published a truncated
schedule of content today in deference to the memory of Billy R. Little, a
long-time core executive of this website's parent company, Carolina Data
Systems. A native of the Old Sparta community near the town of Pinetops in
Edgecombe County, NC, Little passed away at his home on Sunday, May 9, after
a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Little, who in recent years resided near Snow
Hill, NC, is survived by his wife, Bunny Byrd Little; his mother, Dorothy
Summerlin Little of Tarboro; son Terry Wayne Little and wife, Ann, of
Belvoir; daughter Stacy Jeaneen Little of Old Sparta; sisters Jean Cale and
husband, Dennis, of Pinetops, and Cheryl Whitley and husband, Allen Ray, of
Crisp; grandson Brian Little; step-sons Frankie Hill and wife, Mary Kathryn,
of Kinston, and Tony Hill of Raleigh; and step-grandchildren Trey Hill and
Zachary Hill.
The 59-year-old Little was preceded in death
by his father, Leonard Aubrey Little of Edgecombe County.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday,
May 11, at 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange with Rev. Phil Ange and
Rev. Buddy Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Regarded as the foremost expert in the field
of computerized point-of-sale and inventory control systems for North
Carolina's Alcoholic Beverage Control boards, Little also lent his
considerable engineering and teaching talents as a mentor to students
involved in advanced science competitions at Kinston's Arendell Parrott
Academy.
Little was an accomplished guitarist and avid
fisherman.
"Billy Little was a gifted and giving
individual in both his personal and professional roles in life," said
Carolina Data Systems president and CEO Danny Whitford. "He was always a man
of non-pretentiousness, substance and integrity and he will be sorely missed
by all whose lives he touched."
Whitford, who also serves as publisher and
editor of Bonesville.net, said he traces the roots of CDS to his association
with Little almost three decades ago and noted that Little's influence would
not soon fade away.
"His impact on Carolina Data Systems and its
customers will still be apparent a decade from now," said Whitford. "His
contribution to the fabric of his family and friends will carry over for
generations. He was among a handful of people I absolutely revered."
Carolina Data Systems, with facilities in
Fayetteville, Kinston, Marion and New Bern, maintains point-of-sale and
inventory control systems in 115 N.C. ABC boards with hundreds of package
stores spanning the state. In addition to Bonesville Magazine and
Bonesville.net, CDS also owns CyberEast, a retail computer sales and service
business in New Bern.
