Kilgore boards Pirate ship

East Carolina has signed
6-foot-3 combination guard Marvin Kilgore of Philadelphia Lutheran to a
basketball scholarship.
A high school teammate of 6-10
Charles Bronson, who had signed with ECU earlier. Kilgore averaged 22 points
and seven assists for a 29-3 team as a senior.
Kilgore joins previous signees
Bronson, 6-4 wing guard Tom Hammonds of Montrose Christian in Rockville,
Md., 6-6 forward Jonathan Hart of Abraham Clark High in Roselle, N.J., 5-11
shooting guard Josh King of Trinity, N.C., and 6-8 power forward Mike
Castro, a transfer from Allegany (Md.) College.
With the repeal of the
five/eight scholarship restrictions, ECU has one scholarship remaining. Greg
Herenda, who was recently promoted to associate head coach on the ECU staff,
said the Pirates would not use it unless an exceptional player became
available, possibly a transfer or a foreign player.
