East Carolina opened the
second year of the Jeff Lebo era with a flourish, scoring the game's first
8 points and racing to a 31-point halftime lead en route to a 101-45
drubbing of Milligan College Friday night in Greenville.
Junior guard Miguel Paul,
a Missouri transfer, was a perfect 9-of-9 from the floor and scored a
game-high 19 points in only 17 minutes of playing time to lead a parade
of six Pirates in double figures.
The Pirates made 49.3
percentof their field goal attempts, including 61.9 percent from beyond
the arc, while holding the NAIA Buffaloes (2-3) to 34.5 percent
shooting.
ECU dominated the
backboards 52-28 and forced 24 turnovers while giving up only 15.
The Pirates will bus to
Buies Creek on Monday for a 7 p.m. matchup against Campbell. The Camels
opened their season Friday night with an 82-68 win over Houston Baptist.
