Senior guards Jontae
Sherrod and Brock Young scored 14 points and 11 points, respectively, to
help East Carolina capture a 71-48 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne Wednesday
night in Greenville.
The Pirates shot 52.1
percent (25-48) from the field, including 47.8 percent (11-23) from
three-point range, in launching a five-game home stand on a winning note
at the expense of the Division II Bears.
Trailing 8-7 at the 13:49
mark of the first half, East Carolina outscored Lenoir-Rhyne 29-10
during the remainder of the frame to take command of the game at
intermission 36-18.
East Carolina (4-2)
out-rebounded the Bears 36-27.
Freshman guard R.J.
McClure paced the Bears with 8 points.
Lenoir-Rhyne (1-3) is a
member of the South Atlantic Conference.
East Carolina continues
its home stand when UNC-Greensboro pays a visit on Saturday (5 p.m.)
