Senior guard James Legan
scored 20 points to lead a quartet of East Carolina players in double
figures as the Pirates' overwhelmed St. Andrews Presbyterian 94-58 on
Sunday in Greenville.
Freshman forward Darrius
Morrow put together a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds,
senior guard Sam Hinnant added 14 points and sophomore forward Daquan
Joyner scored 13 to help ECU win its second game in three days. The
Pirates opened the season Friday night with a 71-56 victory over
Division II Coker.
Senior guards Joseph
Gripper and Taiwon Grooms paced St. Andrews with 15 and 12 points,
respectively. Sophomore forward Zack Garst had a game-high 11 rebounds
for the Knights.
St. Andrews bolted to a
9-3 lead in the game's first five minutes but the Pirates (2-0) stormed
back to build a 43-26 halftime advantage.
St. Andrews Presbyterian (0-2) is a Division
II school located in Laurinburg.
East Carolina hosts
Campbell on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Fighting Camels are 1-0 after
defeating Chowan 79-64 in their opener on Saturday.
