October 15, 2005: On the 10-year anniversary of handing Florida State its first Atlantic Coast Conference loss, Virginia again stunned No. 4 Florida State with a 26-21 upset of College Football Hall of Fame coach Bobby Bowden and the Seminoles in Charlottesville, VA. Virginia celebrated its previous historic upset, which until this game was the only Cavaliers victory over a top five team, by honoring members of the 1995 team at halftime. Virginia quarterback Marques Hagans was the star of the game, hitting 27-of-36 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns.

October 16, 1978: Tony Franklin of Texas A&M became the only player in college football history to nail two 60-yard field goals in the same game. Franklin set the record by connecting on kicks of 64 and 65 yards. The Aggies defeated Baylor 24-0 in College Station, TX.

October 18, 1952: College Football Hall of Famer Al Brosky of Illinois concluded an NCAA-record streak that will likely never be broken as he intercepted a pass in his 15th consecutive game. Brosky's streak dated back to Nov. 11, 1950 versus Iowa. Brosky remains the college football record holder with 29 career interceptions. The 17th-ranked Fighting Illini fell on this day, however, 13-7 to Minnesota in Minneapolis.

October 19, 1996: No. 5 Arizona State kept its Rose Bowl hopes alive with a thrilling 48-35 double-overtime victory over Southern Cal in Tempe, AZ. USC assumed control of the game for the majority of the day, claiming leads of 14-0, 21-14, 28-21 and 35-28. Arizona State managed to score the game's final 20 points. A Jake Plummer touchdown pass to Keith Poole sent the game to a second overtime. Tailback Terry Battle's 25-yard scoring dash opened the second overtime and Courtney Jackson returned a fumble 85 fumble yards in the second stanza of double overtime to seal the victory. The Sun Devils were the first team in college football history to win an overtime game by 13 points.

October 20, 1944: Michigan State and Maryland combined to attempt the fewest passes in college football history. The Terrapins threw just one pass, while the Spartans did not attempt a pass on the day. Michigan State won the game 8-0 in College Park, MD.

October 21, 1978: No. 9 Texas defeated College Football Hall of Fame coach Lou Holtz and No. 3 Arkansas for the third consecutive year 28-21 in Austin, TX. Holtz's record stood at 15-3 in Fayetteville to that point with his only defeats at the hands of the Longhorns. A trio of Johnny Joneses led the way for Texas. Johnny "Jam" Jones led the team in rushing. Fullback Johnny "Ham" Jones notched a rushing touchdown and a key two-point conversion, and wide receiver Johnny "Lam" Jones posted two touchdowns of his own, including the game-winner with 6:15 to play.

FEATURED MOMENT

October 17, 1987: The Garrett brothers led Princeton to a dramatic 16-15 victory over Lehigh in Princeton, NJ. Trailing 15-13, the Princeton offense found itself stuck on its own two-yard line with just 2:25 to play. However, Tigers quarterback Jason Garrett coolly guided Princeton down the field, repeatedly finding his brother, running back Judd Garrett. Princeton marched to the Lehigh 21-yard line with eight seconds remaining. Rob Goodwin nailed a 38-yarder as time expired to give the Tigers the win. Jason Garrett, who connected on 25-of-31 attempts for 309 yards on the day, would go on to win the Asa S. Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League's player of the year in 1988, and Judd Garrett would follow suit one year later by claiming the 1989 Bushnell Cup. Dean Cain, who would go out to Superman fame in Hollywood, contributed three interceptions in the victory, including the key take away that started the final drive.
