East Carolina erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the seventh and freshman southpaw Kevin Brandt made his collegiate debut with a masterful relief performance as the 23rd-ranked Pirates knocked off No. 11 Oklahoma State 14-7 Thursday in Greenville.

OSU bolted to a 7-1 lead, chasing ECU sophomore righthander Sthil Sowers after 2 2/3 innings before Brandt came in from the bullpen to shut down the Cowboys for the remainder of the game.

Brandt gave up three hits and no runs over the final 6 2/3 innings, setting the stage for the Pirates to rally and ensuring that OSU would not stage a counter-rally.

Junior first baseman Doug Kroll had a pair of home runs for the Cowboys, while senior left fielder Stephen Batts and senior third baseman Drew Schieber hit round-trippers for the Pirates.

The teams are set for a rematch on Friday's opening day of the Keith LeClair Classic. The matchup was moved up from Saturday as a result of a nature-induced change in the LeClair Classic schedule.

In anticipation of weekend rain in Greenville, the schedule for the four-team event was altered from its original Friday-Saturday-Sunday format to include four games on Friday with the remaining two games to be announced Friday evening.

East Carolina officials announced the new game times in an effort to sidestep the inclement weather.

Friday's schedule:

  9:00 a.m. Oklahoma State (H) vs. College of Charleston
* 12:30 p.m. East Carolina (H) vs. St. John's
* 4:00 p.m. East Carolina (H) vs. Oklahoma State
* 7:30 p.m. College of Charleston (H) vs. St. John's

* Game time approximate and will start 40 minutes after conclusion of prior game; (H) Designated home team.

Fans that purchased a Saturday day pass for the LeClair Classic may exchange it for a Friday or Sunday day pass for the Classic or any future ECU home game, according to an ECU release. The Clark-LeClair Stadium ticket office is scheduled to open Friday at 8 a.m.
