Pirates Move Up in BaseballAmerica Poll

East Carolina, unbeaten through seven games, advanced two spots to No. 23 in this week's BaseballAmerica poll. The Pirates, who were not ranked by the publication in the preseason, broke into the poll a week ago at No. 25.

Other Carolinas teams in the rankings are No. 2 Clemson (3-0), No. 5 South Carolina (9-0) and No. 18 Wake Forest (7-1).

Tulane (7-3), a Conference USA member along with ECU, slipped a notch from No. 14 to No. 15 after winning two games while losing two during the week.

Houston, another C-USA member, made its debut in the rankings at No. 25. The Cougars (6-4) captured two wins in a three-game weekend series against No. 9 Louisiana State.
