The Pirates (7-10, 1-4) have lost four of five games since diving into the league schedule, and the whipping by the Billikens put a damper on the afterglow of ECU's upset win over Louisville on Wednesday night.

Diener was 4-for-6 from the floor, including 3-for-4 on 3-pointers, and hit 10 of 11 free throws, driving Saint Louis (9-9, 3-2) to its seventh consecutive home victory. Diener also pulled down three rebounds and handed out three
assists.

Jason Edwin added 16 points while Kenny Brown and Chris Braun each added 13 points for the Billikens, who are 3-0 against East Carolina.

Erroyl Bing led East Carolina with 16 points, while Kenyatta Brown added 14 for the Pirates.

Marque Perry, the starting point guard for Saint Louis, missed his third game of the season, still suffering symptoms of a December 29 concussion. The Billikens lost the previous two games he missed.

On Saturday, Saint Louis shot 49 percent (26-for-53) from the field and made just eight turnovers. From the free-throw line, the Billikens went 28-for-36.

East Carolina hit just 39 percent from the floor and made 19 of 27 free-throw attempts, while making 20 turnovers. Saint Louis was outrebounded 45-29.

The Billikens biggest lead in the second half was 22 points at 74-52 with 5:09 remaining.
