Knights gang up on
Pirates
From staff reports
Balanced scoring helped
Central Florida chalk up a 69-49 Conference USA win over visiting East
Carolina on Wednesday night.
Josh Peppers had 17 points
to lead the Golden Knights. Justin Rose and Anthony Williams had 12
points each. Mike O'Donnell and reserve Jermaine Taylor each scored 10
points.
While UCF (11-13, 5-6
C-USA) had five scorers in double figures, no one reached that offensive
plateau for the Pirates (8-17, 2-10), who were paced by nine points each
from Jeremy Ingram and Sam Hinnant.
A 17-3 spree pushed the
Knights' lead to a 48-24 at the outset of the second half.
An 18-4 UCF flurry in the
first half gave the Golden Knights a 29-13 advantage. The Pirates
managed to cut the deficit to 31-21 at the break.
Central Florida scored 15
points off of ECU turnovers in the first half.
ECU plays its last home
game of the season at 7 p.m. on Saturday when Tulane comes to Williams
Arena at Minges Coliseum.
