Miners shut down Pirates
EL PASO — Texas-El Paso's
Jason Williams was 8-of-13 for 22 points and had 10 rebounds, while no
East Carolina player scored in double figures as the Miners defeated the
Pirates 58-45 on Saturday night.
Miguel Ayala added 11
points, including three 3-pointers, for UTEP (9-5, 2-0 USA), and John
Tofi had a team-high 11 rebounds.
East Carolina, which
trailed 29-18 at the half, hit only about 33 percent of its shots while
the Miners made almost 48 percent of theirs.
Jeremy Ingram scored a
team-high nine points for the Pirates (6-9, 0-2).
ECU continues its Conference
USA schedule Wednesday when Southern Methodist visits Minges Coliseum's Williams Arena. Tip-off for the televised
game (WITN) is set for 7 p.m.
