ORLANDO — East Carolina scored two runs on two Central Florida errors and the Pirates never trailed in a 5-3 American Athletic Conference win Thursday.

The game started at 11 a.m. and today's game is scheduled to get under way at 11 this morning as well to avoid potential rain later in the day.

The third game of the series on Saturday has also been moved up to an 11 a.m. start.

ECU junior left-hander Evan Kruczynski (6-1) found the early start to his liking as he pitched into the ninth inning before Joe Ingle came in to get the last two outs and his 12th save.

Kruczynski scattered 11 hits as the Knights held a 13-12 lead in hits. Kruzynski yielded three runs, all earned, while walking one and striking out three.

ECU (32-19-1, 13-8-1 AAC) scored lone runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings before UCF (25-29, 8-14) scored twice in a ninth-inning comeback bid.

Luke Bolka hit his third home run of the season in the fourth for a 3-0 Pirates lead.

In the fifth, Dwanya Williams-Sutton doubled for ECU. Turner Brown's sacrifice bunt allowed him to go to third and he scored on a ball hit to short by Travis Watkins.

Parker Lamm singled in the seventh, moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Charlie Yorgen.

Brown's RBI single to short gave ECU a 5-1 lead.

Williams-Sutton went 3-for-5. Brown was 2-for-2 with two walks. Yorgen finished 2-for-4.

Logan Heiser was 2-for-4 for UCF with a two-run homer in the ninth.
