HIGH POINT — East Carolina lost 5-1 at High Point on Wednesday night following a 15-3 home win over N.C. State the preceding night.

The Pirates sought to avoid a letdown and took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the offensive production subsequently faltered as ECU fell to 24-13.

Parker Lamm singled to start the game and moved to second on a wild pitch. A bunt by Kirk Morgan moved Lamm to third and he scored as Eric Tyler reached base on an error by the Panthers shortstop.

The Pirates left two on base in the opening frame as a pair of fly outs got High Point's Michael Hennessey (3-2) out of trouble.

ECU stranded 10 for the game.

Hennessey allowed four hits over seven innings with three walks and five strikeouts. He threw 124 pitches.

Luke Parker went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the win as the Panthers (25-13) outhit the Pirates, 13-5.

Davis Kirkpatrick (0-2) started and went three and two-thirds innings for ECU. He allowed six hits, three runs (all earned) without a walk or a strikeout.

Carson Jackson doubled for High Point in the second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored the tying run on a ground out by Nick Capra.

Parker doubled to left in the third inning and Spencer Brown's sacrifice bunt moved him to third. Parker scored the go-ahead run on Hunter Lee's single to center.

Parker's RBI triple in the fourth provided a 3-1 lead. The Panthers added a pair of unearned runs in the fifth.

Zack Mozingo finished 2-for-4 for the Pirates.

Joe Goodman pitched the last inning and one-third for the Panthers to get his fourth save.

Sam Lanier, Joe Ingle, Cam Colmore and Denny Brady had scoreless relief stints for ECU.

The Pirates start a three-game American Athletic Conference at home against Connecticut on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
