ELON —  East Carolina scored two runs on a pair of wild pitches in the top of the 11th inning for a 7-5 win at Elon on Tuesday night.

Travis Watkins, Eric Tyler and Bryce Harman all walked with one out in the final frame to load the bases before a wild pitch from Joe McGullicuddy (0-2) on a third strike to Brady Lloyd allowed Watkins to score the go-ahead run.

Another wild pitch enabled Tyler to come home for a 7-5 Pirates lead.

Joe Ingle (4-2) retired the Phoenix in order in the bottom of the 11th, striking out the first two batters before a pop-up to ECU freshman shortstop Turner Brown ended the game and evened the nonconference season series at 1-1.

Elon (10-18) won 8-7 in 10 innings on March 2 in Greenville.

Pirate pitchers had 19 strikeouts. Starter Nick Durazo fanned nine over four and two-thirds innings. Durazo did not allow a hit while walking two.

Matt Bridges struck out three in a two-inning middle relief stint. Ingle had seven strikeouts over the last four innings.

Watkins had an RBI single in the first that scored Parker Lamm to put the Pirates ahead 1-0.

A solo home run to left center by Dwanya Williams-Sutton extended the lead to 2-0 in the fifth and Charlie Yorgen had a sacrifice fly later in the inning for a 3-0 advantage.

Williams-Sutton's RBI single in the sixth that brought in Tyler gave ECU a 4-0 lead. Watkins came home on a passed ball in the seventh inning after the Phoenix had scored twice in the sixth.

A 3-run homer by Elon's Nick Zammarelli tied the score at 5 in the bottom of the eighth.

Brown and Williams-Sutton each had three hits for the Pirates. Tyler was 2-for-4 as the Pirates (20-9) outhit their hosts, 12-7.
