GREENVILLE —  Jacksonville took the second matchup of its three-game nonconference series at East Carolina 8-6 on Friday night.

The Dolphins (15-7) bounced back from a 6-3 loss to the Pirates (15-8) on Thursday night to force a deciding game in the series at 1 p.m. today.

ECU got a two-run homer from freshman Dwanya Williams-Sutton in the second inning to tie the score at 2 before the visitors went ahead to stay with two runs in the third.

Sam Armstrong went 3-for-4 for the Dolphins with a pair of doubles.

Seth DeWitt homered to left in the fifth for a 5-2 Jacksonville lead. A two-run single by Dakota Julylia was the key hit in a three-run seventh for the Dolphins.

Jacksonville had a 12-10 edge in hits.

Williams-Sutton had three RBIs as his sacrifice fly capped a two-run eighth for ECU to draw the hosts within 8-6. Williams-Sutton also had two walks.

Turner Brown had two RBIs for the Pirates and Garrett Brooks plated a run.

Bryce Harman had a pair of doubles for ECU and Eric Tyler finished with two hits.

Jacob Wolfe (2-2) was charged with the loss as the Pirates used six pitchers.

Matt Baumann (3-1) started and went six innings for the win. Mike Cassala got his sixth save.
