PHILADELPHIA — Despite trailing by 11 points in the first half, Temple rallied for a 78-60 American Athletic Conference win over East Carolina before 4,524 fans at the Liacouras Center on Saturday night.

Quenton DeCosey was five of eight behind the arc to lead the Owls (8-6, 3-1 AAC) with 24 points.

DeCosey had 17 points in the second half as Temple outscored ECU 45-22 in the final 20 minutes.

"Our best first half of the season but we've got to play 40 minutes," said Pirates coach Jeff Lebo.

Caleb White scored 11 of his team-high 14 points for ECU in the first half. Clarence Williams had 10 of his 12 points for the Pirates in the opening period.

ECU led 38-30 and called time with 33 seconds left in the half to set up a play. Prince Williams missed a jumper with four seconds to go and Devin Coleman hit a three in transition for Temple that appeared to swing momentum.

Two free throws by Mike Zangari with 10:42 left tied the score at 50 but the Owls went on a 21-4 run to take control.

Temple made 17 of 29 field goal attempts in the second half, 58.5 percent.

Zangari had six of his eight points after intermission and led ECU's rebounding with five. Prince Williams had nine points and five assists without a turnover.

B.J. Tyson and Kentrell Barkley scored six points each for the Pirates.

Coleman finished with 17 points for Temple. Josh Brown added 12 points and eight assists for the Owls.

ECU (8-8, 0-3) will host Southern Methodist at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday night.
