GREENVILLE — A three-run third inning put Tulane ahead to stay and the Green Wave went on to an 8-6 American Athletic Conference win over East Carolina at Clark-LeClair Stadium on Saturday.

With the score tied at 1, Tulane's Tyler Wilson singled with two out in the top of the third and one runner aboard by virtue of an error. Jake Rogers followed with an RBI single for a 2-1 Green Wave lead. A wild pitch allowed Wilson to score. Jake Willsey's RBI single gave the visitors a 4-1 lead.

John Gandolfo and Rogers each had three hits for Tulane (20-12, 2-4). Hunter Williams and Richard Carthon each had two RBIs for the Green Wave.

Kirk Morgan had two hits and two RBIs to lead ECU (19-13, 3-3) at the plate.

Also getting two hits each for the Pirates were Charlie Yorgen, Travis Watkins and Luke Lowery.

Lowery had an RBI double in the bottom of the ninth before Eric Tyler grounded into a game-ending double play with the bases loaded.

ECU had already taken the series with a 3-0 win on Thursday night and an 11-4 triumph on Friday night.

David Lucroy (2-2) started and went two and two-thirds innings on the mound as the Pirates used six pitchers.

Each team had five earned runs. Alex Massey (2-2) got the win for Tulane. Patrick Duester faced one batter for his second save of the season.

ECU visits Campbell (24-8) for a 6 p.m. game Tuesday.
