Panthers complete sweep

GREENVILLE — Tyler Hibbert's two-out single to left
field in the top of the eighth inning drove in two runs and provided the
margin of victory as Florida International topped East Carolina 2-1 at
Clark-LeClair Stadium on Sunday.
The outcome completed a Panthers sweep of the Conference
USA series.
ECU (28-21, 13-11) took a 1-0 lead in the sixth after
Charlie Yorgen led off with a single up the middle off of Chris Mourelle
(8-2).
Drew Reynolds singled to right field to put runners on
the corners. The Pirates took the lead on Zach Houchins' single to right
field.
David Lucroy (2-5) pitched into the ninth inning for ECU,
allowing three hits. He walked three and fanned four.
Reid Love and Reynolds also saw mound duty in the ninth
for the Pirates.
ECU outhit the visitors 29-23 for the series, including
6-4 on Sunday. Reynolds was 2-for-4 to pace the Pirates in the last game of
the series.
Zach Sweety was 2-for-4 for FIU (34-12, 14-10).
The Pirate players will focus on exams today and Tuesday.
ECU travels Thursday for a C-USA series that starts Friday at 7 p.m. (ET) at
Southern Miss.
