GREENVILLE  — East Carolina won its seventh straight game as Ryan Williams provided another victorious performance out of the bullpen Sunday.

Williams upped his record to 8-1 with three scoreless innings in relief of a solid start by David Lucroy as freshman Charlie Yorgen delivered a game-winning RBI triple in the eighth inning for a 2-1 triumph over Maryland-Baltimore County.

Dylan Brown singled through the right side to lead off the eighth inning for ECU (17-11). Eric Tyler's sacrifice bunt moved him to second. Yorgen tripled down the right-field line with two strikes off of Jonny Dierks (1-2) to put the Pirates ahead.

Williams threw six pitches in the top of the ninth for three groundouts to end the three-game series with a sweep of the Retrievers (5-14).

Williams allowed two hits over three scoreless innings in the pitchers' duel. He struck out four without a walk.

Lucroy limited UMBC to three hits and an unearned run while walking one and whiffing three in six innings.

ECU took a 1-0 lead in the fourth as Drew Reynolds singled to right field. He moved to second on a wild pitch by Retrievers starter Joe Vanderplas. Reynolds took third on a ground out to second by Zach Houchins. Ian Townsend's sacrifice fly to center brought Reynolds home.

Rob McCabe walked for UMBC in the sixth. A sacrifice bunt by Connor Hax moved him to second. McCabe moved to third on a ground out to Lucroy by Andrew Casali and scored on a passed ball to tie the score.

Brown went 2-for-4 as ECU had four hits.

The Pirates visit N.C. State for a 6 p.m. game Wednesday. The Wolfpack is 15-11 going into a Tuesday night game at Campbell.
