North Carolina State extended its winning
streak to seven games on Tuesday, prevailing 2-0 over East Carolina in a
pitcher's duel before a record crowd of 2,951 at Doak Field.
Tarran Senay's two-run single in the bottom of
the sixth gave the Wolfpack all the runs it needed and took the luster from
a combined three-hitter by ECU pitchers Nick Durazo and Brett Mabry.
A stable of five State pitchers scattered five
hits and allowed only one Pirate runner to reach third base.
The victory lifted the Wolfpack to 25-10,
while ECU fell to 15-18.
Next up for the Pirates is a Conference USA
road series with Tulane. The three-game set gets underway Friday at 7:30
p.m. at Turchin Stadium. The Green Wave (17-18) is coming off a 7-5 Tuesday
win over Louisiana-Lafayette.
