Broncos

Senior guard Brock Young
scored 22 points in only 23 minutes of playing time to lead East
Carolina to a 91-70 victory over Fayetteville State on Saturday in
Greenville.
Young passed the
1,000-point career scoring mark with his offensive outburst and helped
the Pirates extend their winning streak to five games, their longest
string of consecutive victories since 2008.
East Carolina (7-2) bolted
to a 19-4 lead in the first six minutes, extended the margin to 47-24 by
halftime and coasted the rest of the way.
Burly junior forward
Darrius Morrow produced 11 points and 6 rebounds in only 16 minutes of
action as the playing time and scoring was spread among 12 players who
saw action for the Pirates.
Freshman forward Terrell
Tate scored 14 points and junior guard Jarmel Baxter and junior forward
Sidney Evans added 10 apiece to pace the Broncos.
East Carolina dominated
the out-manned Broncos on the boards 50-39. The Pirates outshot
Fayetteville State from the floor 49.2 percent to 34.3 percent.
The Broncos (3-3) are
members of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, an
NCAA Division II conference.
East Carolina completes a five-game home stand when
Old Dominion pays a visit on Tuesday (7 p.m.)
A victory would give the Pirates their first six-game winning streak in
eight years.
ECU will then have an 11-day break in
the schedule before facing
five straight road games.
