Marshall suppresses Pirates

Poor shooting played a
part in keeping East Carolina winless in Conference USA as the Pirates
lost to Marshall 56-52 Wednesday night in Huntington, WV.
ECU shot an anemic 28.8
percent (17-59) from the field in falling to 0-7 in the league, 5-15
overall. The Thundering Herd converted 40.9 percent (18-44) and improved
to 3-4 in C-USA, 8-13 in all games.
Markel Humphrey scored 17
points and had seven rebounds to pace Marshall, which also got
double-figure scoring from Mark Dorris with 12 points.
Courtney Captain led the
Pirates with 18 points while Darrell Jenkins added 13 and Cory Farmer
scored 10.
It was East Carolina's seventh straight loss and the 14th loss in its
last 15 games.
East Carolina will be on
the road again Saturday for an 8:05 p.m. conference contest at Rice.
