GREENVILLE — N.C. State defeated host East Carolina 6-0 on Wednesday night as three Wolfpack pitchers combined for the shutout.
Left-hander Sean Adler (4-6) started for State and went five and one-third innings. He scattered five hits while walking one and striking out seven.
Joe O’Donnell turned in two and one-third innings without yielding a hit. He issued one walk and struck out three.
Austin Staley pitched the final inning and one-third. He allowed one hit and had one strikeout.

The Wolfpack (22-20) was led offensively by Joe Dunand, who was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Andy Cosgrove was 3-for-4 for the visitors with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Brett Kinneman was 2-for-4 as NCSU outhit the hosts, 13-6.
Kinneman singled to start a two-run second inning for the Wolfpack. Evan Mendoza doubled to put runners at second and third. State went ahead to stay as Kinneman scored on a ground out by Will Wilson. Mendoza came home on a single up the middle by Cosgrove.

Kinneman singled to score Dunand, who had doubled in the fourth.
Dunand had a two-run homer for a 5-0 lead in the eighth.
Cosgrove doubled in the ninth and scored on a single by Stephen Pitarra.
Eric Tyler went 2-for-4 with a double for ECU (22-20).

Jacob Wolfe (4-3) went three innings for the Pirates and was charged with the loss. Sam Lanier and West Covington each worked two scoreless innings for ECU.
The nonconference matchup brought 4,181 to Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Pirates start a three-game American Athletic Conference series at home against Tulane on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
